The highly anticipated Street Fighter live action web series is finally available to be viewed online.
After about 2 years of production, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist is available on Machinima’s Youtube Channel.
The creators of this series are the same fans who had previously created the Street Fighter: Legacy short film and were later hired by Capcom to create Assassin’s Fist.
The series’ story takes place in Japan, during the early days of Ryu and Ken’s training. The series follows them as they learn about the mysterious past of their Master, Gouken, and the tragic and dark legacy of the Ansatsuken style.
The series was originally going to be funded with a Kickstarter campaign until in April 2013, private backers stepped forward with the money, removing the need for crowd funding.
The series was directed by Joey Ansah, who will also be portraying Akuma, Gouken’s younger brother.
Ansah has previously been in notable movies like Bourne Ultimatum (where he played Desh) and Snow White and The Huntsman.
According to Ansah, Legacy was just the start, a taste of what a live-action Street Fighter should be.
This takes the story right back to the start – the origins and motivations of Ryu, Ken, Gouken and Akuma. This will become the definitive back-story from which further epic adventures will follow.
Have you seen the series yet? Do you think it would appeal to not only Street Fighter fans but also the general public and prove to be a serious milestone where web series are concerned?
