Those console players of Minecraft who were previously excited about the prospect of transferring their saves and DLCs to current gen version (PS4, Xbox One) of the game might be disappointed by this recent news.
Minecraft developer Mojang recently confirmed on their website that “many, but not all” the DLC skins players purchased on the Xbox 360 or PS3 edition of the game would be transferrable to the Xbox One or PS4 edition.
The reason behind this according to Mojang is ‘some of the items are trapped in licensing deals’.
Developers haven’t released a list of all the DLCs which won’t be transferred but have promised to provide more info soon.
If the licensing reason turns out to be the main issue, then players will probably not be able to transfer packs like Marvel Avengers Skin Pack or Mass Effect Mash-up Pack or any other cross brand DLCs.
Xbox One and PS4 editions of the game will be available to download from their respective network stores sometime in August 2014 and will be priced $14.99.
Players who own the previous generation version, either on Xbox 360 or PS3 will be able to upgrade it for current gen just for $4.99.
A PS3 + Vita Edition is also coming in August for $19.99 – it’ll be Cross-Buy, so anyone who already owns the PS3 Edition will automatically get the Vita version.
