Every Avid FPS gamer must be aware of the name “Wolfenstein.” After the franchise got re-imagined into a 3D FPS environment, it became one of the few pioneers in the FPS genre.
The last installment was released back in 2009, and now, Wolfenstein: The New Order has been released to relive the very core elements of the beloved franchise.
The game uses Id Tech 5 engine which is sort of known to have some problems at launch (Last good example could be Rage).
If you are experiencing any issues, make sure that you look out for official updates being rolled out by developer. In the meanwhile, you could also try to fix the issues by browsing through the following workarounds:
#1 Wolfenstein: The New Order White Screen Issue
The New Order is a game that won’t go easy on your hardware so you need your PC to be in the optimized state to get the maximum out of it. First thing you need to make sure is that you are using latest version of GPU drivers (either Nvidia or AMD).
After the update, many problems including the ‘White Screen of Death’ will be resolved.
#2 Wolfenstein: The New Order Screen Tearing and Flickering After 14.4 Driver Install
For AMD users, if you are experiencing Screen Tearing/Flickering after updating your drivers, there is a possibility that you might not have installed them properly.
For proper installation, you need to first uninstall the old drivers and after the reboot, install the new ones.
#3 Wolfenstein: The New Order Disk Error
If you are receiving this error, there could be multiple reasons for it. In any case, you could try out the following to fix it:
- Try deleting clientregistery.blop file in your Steam directory.
- Make sure that your Partition is not using FAT file system.
- If you are using an external hard drive, try installing the game in the internal one.
- Run the CHKDSK utility to see if there are problems with your hard drive like bad sectors etc.
#4 Wolfenstein: The New Order – Missing “.EXE” File
If your “.exe” file is missing even after restarting Steam, there is a chance that you might be running a 32-bit OS.
If that’s the case, you are out of luck as the game doesn’t support that version. In that case, the only solution you are left with is to upgrade your Operating System.
#5 Wolfenstein: The New Order – How to Fix Artifacts/Stuttering Issue
To fix this annoying problem, you are recommended to disable triple buffering from the control panel. Save the changes, and launch the game again to resolve the issue.
#6 Wolfenstein: The New Order ‘Can’t Change Resolution
If you somehow are stuck with a resolution that is not supported by your screen, you can delete the config file manually to reset all the settings.
The config file can be found in – users/yourname/saved games/Machine Games/
#7 Wolfenstein: The New Order Black Screen Fix
Many AMD users are experiencing Black Screen at different points in the game. To fix the issue, you need to update your GPU drivers properly to version 14.4. Refer to #1 for more details.
#8 Wolfenstein: The New Order Crash to Desktop (CTD) Fix
Make sure you have updated your GPU drivers to most recent ones.
If the problem still persists, try changing the compatibility mode to Windows 7. If that doesn’t cut it and you are using SLI/Crossfire, try disabling it.
For users with dual monitors, I will recommend that they at least try the game once on the single screen.
#9 Wolfenstein: The New Order Screen Tearing Fix
You may experience terrible tearing after you minimize the game once. That’s actually the default behavior of Id Tech 5 engine. In order to fix it, you need to force Vsync using the control panel of your GPU.
