The Mysterious Spartan in Halo 5: Guardians is Neither Sarah Palmer Nor Cortana – Josh Holmes

Refuting most speculations about the mysterious character alongside Master Chief in Halo 5: Guardians, Executive Producer of the game Josh Holmes has confirmed that it is neither Sarah Palmer nor Cortana.

If you remember correctly, the cover art released alongside Halo 5: Guardians announcement showed two characters; the mysterious character on top of Halo 5 logo and Master Chief underneath it.

From that very day, fans have been speculating that the game will have two possible playable characters. While this does seem like a possible option, most fans have been thinking of this mysterious character as Commander Sarah Palmer from Halo 4 and Halo: Spartan Assault or as Cortana (possibly due to the blue eyepiece).

Well, it turns out fans will not be seeing a female protagonist in the game as Josh Holmes has confirmed that yet-to-be disclosed character is male.

For everyone speculating about the mysterious Spartan in Halo 5: Guardians, he not Palmer (or Cortana!). He’s a NEW character. 🙂 #Halo

Other than this, we do not much to go about the new character. Yesterday, Frank O’Connor (Franchise Development Director of 343 Industries) announced that more information on the game will be divulged at the upcoming E3.

He also shared a concept art which showcased some sort of a base in a desert canyon with a desert-struck character wandering through it.

In related news, Halo: The Master Chief Collection which comprises of re-mastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo is rumored to be in development for Xbox One.

Previously, it has been reported that Microsoft will launch Halo 2: Anniversary Edition for Xbox One. The inclusion of the other three re-mastered games will be a real treat. Once again, we can only hope that E3 2014 will bring in more news on the subject.

Now that Microsoft has cast aside the female protagonists, who do you suspect is this mysterious Spartan?
