The Last of Us Remastered Edition is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 4 this summer and upon its release, it will receive the full game and three major DLC expansions Abandoned Territories, Left Behind and Reclaimed Territories.
However, Naughty Dog’s recent AMA on Reddit suggests that the smaller DLCs like weapons, skills and Grounded Bundle will not be a part of the game. In a response to a question that asked about the extra DLC items added to PS4 version, lead designer Erin Daly said:
We are looking into this.
The statement clearly dodges the question, which indicates that we shouldn’t expect to see these minor DLCs in the Remastered Edition.
Moreover, many small DLC items like headgears that were a part of PS3 version of The Last of Us might not be making their way to the PlayStation 4 version:
Those were items we were testing. We can’t say at this point whether they’ll be released or not.
But wait! there is more, the developers also squashed any plans of adding any further game mode to the game as it will cause more problems.
We’d love to add more modes, but time and resources limit our opportunity to add anything as large as a game mode. Additionally, splitting up the player base more would cause more issues with matchmaking.
There is some good news though, all of the multiplayer maps, including the ones in DLCs will be added to the game.
The Last of Us Remastered edition is scheduled to release in the summer of 2014 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
