Update: While speaking to CVG, Nintendo representatives have totally negated all the circulating rumors by stating that they don’t have any plans for a hardware reveal at E3 2014.
Original Story: Amidst all the talks (speculations for the most part) about games that are supposed to be featured at this year’s E3, people have started claiming that Nintendo has bigger plans. Multiple sources are claiming that the Japan based company plans to reveal new Nintendo hardware at E3 2014.
One of the sources of the speculation is VideoGamer who, have claimed so on authority of a third party publishing source. The source was kept anonymous, of course.
Parallel to this, IGN’s Peer Schneider says that he has strong reason to believe the same. Schneider was joined by two others in a Podcast recently where he said:
They’re absolutely going to show new hardware this year. There’s no doubt in my mind. Because I’ve heard it from multiple people now. I’ve heard it from someone who used to be at Nintendo, I’ve heard it from somebody on the third-party front.
This time again, the sources are unknown and it is just the word of these two that we have at hand. Moreover, the word ‘hardware’ could actually mean anything from a completely new console to just a controller – even something altogether different.
Even Schneider goes on to say that ‘nobody knows what that means’ while referring to the context in which the term hardware is being used here.
As far as older rumors are concerned, it was said back in January that Nintendo plans to reveal two hardware units called Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal.
They are apparently going to be the successors of the current consoles. Each one of them even received expected specifications.
What do you think about this, do you think that new Nintendo hardware is really going to be revealed at E3 2014 and could it really be the ones speculated about in January?
