Blizzard Giving Away 3 Classics for Free, Who is Interested?

Before they were known as Blizzard and creating cult-hit series like Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo, Blizzard went by the name of Silicon & Synapse and were well known for their games: The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne and Rock n Roll Racing.

Today, Blizzard is giving away these three titles for free. users need to login to their accounts and head over to the “Download Game Clients” option and scroll all the way down or click the Classic Games to download the games.

You can also download these games without logging into your account by going directly to the download page.

Rock & Roll Racing is a isometric camera battle racer where you choose one of the six characters, each with his/her own driving statistics. The game features 3 car types each with it’s own special ability; the pickup truck can jump, the racer has a speed-boost and the hovercar drops a mine.

Other than car-specific abilities, the map is littered with pickups which can be used against and by rivals.

Lost Vikings is a side-scrolling adventure where you control a trio of Vikings, each with unique abilities, as you try to escape from the alien ship and defeat the evil alien emperor Tomator.

The Three Vikings: Erik the Swift can run fast, jump and charge enemies, Olaf the Stout can block enemy attacks and use his shield to glide or act as a step for Erik to jump on to reach far away ledges and Baelog can kill enemies with his sword or bow as well as press buttons from afar.

Blackthorne is a 2D side scrolling platformer quite similar to the original Prince of Persia, the player controls Kyle Vlaros as he is brought back to his home planet after growing up in earth as tensions flared between his people the Androth and the twisted Ka’dra’suul.

The game features 17 maze-like levels filled with traps and enemies, and it seems Blizzard has reworked the game’s control to better fit with the keyboard whilst preserving the original look and feel of the game.

Currently the game is only available to the US members, but you can still download the games by changing your region to “Americas – English (US)” at the bottom left of the page.
