Publisher Aksys Games has halted its planned launch for the limited edition of Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi. It was supposed to release next week, but its production caught a snag.
In an attempt to ensure a quality product, the company has delayed the limited edition, stating:
While in manufacturing, we found that one of the limited edition components was not up to our standards. In order to give fans the limited edition they deserve, we have decided to delay the ship date of Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi Limited Edition to May 20, 2014 to correct the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience to all our fans.
Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi will still launch through the Playstation Network on May 6, 2014 in North America. Nothing changes there.
Their idea for a premium version is pretty snazzy. Aside from the game, the limited edition offers a Japanese hair comb, a love charm replica and a Japanese hair pin.
Its contents are wrapped within a premium lacquer box. Since a few of those items are rather frail by design, there was probably one that felt a little shoddy.
Good on Aksys Games for making sure fans get decent material for their money. We recently also stood with the publisher in its quest to get Magus on Steam, which it has to do through the Greenlight process, for obtuse reasons.
Yesterday, the company also announced a remade version for Arcana Heart 3, which will launch in North America in fall.
Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi is a Playstation 3 exclusive. Other iterations can also be found on Nintendo 3DS.
