Manufacturer First 4 Figures has announced a Vyse statue as its next premium figurine in the Sega All-Stars series. It previously did the same for Ryo Hazuki from the Shenmue series.
Most recent generations of gamers might not know Vyse outside of his appearance in 2012’s Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. If you need a hint: vyse is responsible for one of the more annoying race tracks there; the one with all the flying parts and the debris and air ships everywhere.
Originally, Vyse was a central role in the Dreamcast cult hit Skies of Arcadia. It was later ported to Gamecube, though that probably doesn’t help a lot of gamers remember who that character is.
Still, First 4 Figures are confident enough to make two versions of their 17 inch figurines, set on a 1/6 scale. Admittedly, they’re classy and thoroughly detailed statuettes, but just wait until you see the price.
In its normal rendition, the Vyse statue costs $199. There will be 1000 units made, which would just about tally all the hardcore fans of the series.
For an exclusive edition, which comes with additional sword, you’ll need to pay $219. Also, this version will only have 425 units.
Preorders are available now and come with a $10 fee upfront, in case you feel like chickening out. You’ll receive your item by the end of the year.
Since Tales of Symphonia recently was brought from Gamecube to other platforms, perhaps Sega can follow that up with taking Skies of Arcadia to the new generation as well. After a decade, it seems about the right time.
