New Video Claims Child of Light is a Modern Day Fairytale

Ubisoft has posted a new video for their upcoming stylish 2D side-scrolling RPG Child of Light. The new media sheds more light on the protagonist’s character development through her journey of returning back to her world.

Speaking in the video, Ubisoft calls the game a modern age fairytale. The main character Aurora leads a sheltered life as the daughter of an Austrian Duke. At the beginning of the game, she wakes up in the magical world of Lemuria and begins her search for her father. Later on in the game she learns that the Black Queen of the Night has held the Sun, Moon and the Stars captive and now terrorizes Lemuria. Aurora then decides to defeat the queen and bring peace back in the mythical world and hopefully find a way to get back to her own world.

The game’s writing is slightly based on a poem called The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The writing will be entirely in Rhyme; as well as the narration and character dialogues. Add that with visuals inspired by Studio Ghibli movies and you have a game that can be enjoyed by fans of all ages.

The game is available for pre-order and will release on April 30 for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and the Wii U.
