Square Enix has been spotted to have registered a Just Cause 3 domain name for “JustCause3Game.com.” While this certainly adds more fuel to the fire that Avalanche Games has been working on a third installment in the franchise, it has be noted that publishers most of the times just register domains to lock down the names for themselves. It doesn’t necessarily qualify as a confirmation. Not to mention that Square Enix also had registered Just Cause 4 back in 2012.
The discovery was made by Superannuation: “Square Enix’s corporate domain registrar registered a Just Cause 3 domain this week. Guess we’ll see that at E3.”
That said, rumors of Just Cause 3 being in development go back as far as early 2013. In March last year Avalanche Games’ co-founder Christofer Sundberg opened up a bit about the rumors, saying that if there was any truth to Just Cause 3, then he would “love to see more depth in character development of Rico, the grappling hook and the parachute.” A notion of creating a living and breathing world using the power of the next-gen consoles was also mentioned.
Around the same time the studio’s Twitter account Tweeted a blurry screenshot that screamed Just Cause 3.
Here’s hoping that we get to see an announcement in E3 2014 which takes place in a couple of months.
