The developer of the upcoming ‘Borderlands Meets Dark Souls’ RPG Lords of the Fallen has admitted that achieving 1080p on the Xbox One is “slightly tougher” than on the PlayStation 4.
Speaking with IGN, executive producer at City Interactive Tomasz Gop said that the team is currently working on hitting the 30fps threshold. For an RPG title such as this, 30fps might prove to be too less at instances. However, the developer feels that it’s better to go for a lower frame rate in order to achieve higher resolutions.
“I think if we have to choose between resolution and framerate,” said Gop, “We’ll probably choose to go full HD 1080p and have a stable, rock-solid 30fps, rather than try to lower the resolution and push it to 60fps because we believe this game looks pretty good, so we’d rather have a decent resolution to show it off.”
All that said, Gop noted that they haven’t really achieved 60fps on the PlayStation 4 but current work seems to be going fine and hence it looks to be achievable.
“It’s probably easier for me to confirm it’ll happen for PlayStation 4, because it appears on this one we’re almost nailing it and pretty much there,” said Gop. “For Xbox One though, it’s slightly tougher and we’re still working on it, so I can’t confirm that yet.”
Lords of the Fallen is scheduled for a release later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
