Mojang has released a new video for Minecraft that finally gives us an early look at the new environment creation tools that will be coming as part of Update 1.8.
The new terrain generation will feature plenty of options to allow users to carve out their own versions of landscapes. According to the developer there are 16 sliders in total, that can be used to affect various aspects of the game’s upcoming terrain generator. Players though can also choose to enter their own values directly.
The large array of parameters to choose from also include aspects like the sea level and what structures to generate. Mojang has promised complete control over it all for the players.
“We’ve also supplied a set of seven presets that we think players will find interesting,” said Mojang, “including a world made of water up to the top of the map, and the return of floating islands.”
Currently we have no set release for Update 1.8 and with the developer consistently teasing us with the creation tools, players are getting a bit too much riled up. Hopefully we won’t have to wait that long.
In related news, the retail version of Minecraft on the PlayStation 3 will launch on Wednesday, May 14 in Europe. Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft are also currently in development.
