Earlier this week a job posting revealed that Codemasters has been working on an “exciting new IP for digital and console platforms.” Upon questioning the developer teased us that it would be back later this week to announce the game “after taking a look at the weather forecast.”
The internet speculated that it could be Grid 3 and it seems it was right. A teaser video released today by the developer carries the same art style that we have previously seen in the reveal of Grid 2. The video concludes by promising a main reveal to happen on Tuesday, April 22.
Spanning across just 18 seconds, the teaser’s caption reads: “Brace yourselves…Racing is Coming.”
Interestingly the developer is also known to be working on a new DiRT game, as well as an F1 title; both of which are said to be in development for the new consoles. However, Codemasters has yet to officially confirm either DiRT 4 or the unnamed F1 title.
Grid 2 was a fabulous experience and might I add featured a somewhat steep learning curve. Which was exactly why racing fans enjoyed the game extensively. Grid 3 is most probably heading to the new consoles as well, which makes us wonder what new features the developer will be including.
Codemasters’ mentioning of the “calm before the storm” could mean a very diverse weather engine. We’ll know for sure next week.
