Rune Factory 4 continues to sell big and has officially shipped 200,000 copies in Japan, Marvelous announced today.
The figure includes both retail copies shipped and download copies sold. However, the publisher did not provide details on as to how the 200,000 figure splits between the two formats. We do know that by late 2012 Rune Factory 4 had sold 150,000 retail copies.
In comparison to the first title in the Rune Factory series, the fourth installment is doing tremendously well. The first Rune Factory sold a mere 42,000 copies at launch, whereas Rune Factory 4 achieved 86,000 launch sales.
Marvelous also mentioned that the game is doing well in North America as well but didn’t provide latest numbers.
In related news, former Rune Factory development members are working on a Nintendo 3DS RPG called Forbidden Magna that will feature a Valkyria Chronicles-like battle system, and the cute visual style of Harvest Moon.
The RPG revolves around Lux, an innkeeper, who meets different Spirits and befriends them. With time the Spirits help Lux grow stronger with new abilities.
