Ubisoft has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version of Watch Dogs will run natively at 1080p resolution.
Speaking in a new video, Cinematics Animation lead Lars Bonde stated that “at it’s core, [Watch Dogs] is the same experience on current-gen and next-gen consoles. You get the same gameplay out of it.”
He then continued discussing the capabilities of the new consoles: “Of course there’s nuances to it. We are utilizing Xbox One to its full capabilities and the same with the PS4, of course. I know that, as far as to my knowledge, on the PS4 it will run in full HD.”
One can gather from his comment about the Xbox One that the game wont run at 1080p, which gives weight to the rumor about the game running at 960 on the Xbox One.
Regardless of the Resolution, Watch Dogs is expected to run at 30FPS on both consoles. Ubisoft has yet to comment on the speculation.
In an interview last year, Ashraf Ismail, Game director of the Assassin’s Creed series, hinted that Watch Dogs is set in the same universe and the game will include Easter Eggs that connect both series together.
Watch Dogs is slated for a May 27 release on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The Wii U version will follow later.
