Dark roleplaying game (RPG) Bound By Flame has received a new gameplay trailer that specifically focuses on the combat mechanisms from different angles. In total, you’ll be deciding your approach on three different trees.
With the warrior, you’ll do the most basic of attacks with swords, axes and so on.
Rangers are a little more diverse. They can dual wield daggers to perform sneaky attacks or use spells to slow down time, in order to gain an advantage on the enemy.
With the pyromancer, you’ll get the most out of your spells. This class can invoke flame spirits or imbue weapons.
There’s also some attention drawn towards the many different monsters in Bound By Flame. Each has its own twisted visual style, but also a distinct strategy that needs to be approached with caution.
Combat certainly looks swirly. Many of the blows dealt in the trailer comes with spinning on your axis, milling your arms around and so forth. It looks very involved.
We’re not too sure about its actual result though. While Bound By Flame says it’s very different, by altering on the fly and so forth, the classes within do still look like a standard brute, ranged, magic triumvirate.
Developer Spiders Games has an odd track record. On one hand, they’re responsible for some decent Sherlock Holmes ports, but it also released Faery: Legends of Avalon, one of the most boring fantasy RPGs we’ve ever played.
Bound By Flame is one of their more ambitious releases to date. It will launch for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 9, 2014. Once again, there’s no Xbox One information to be found.
