SOE president John Smedley has revealed a few bits of information regarding the recently teased post-apocalyptic massively multiplayer online game H1Z1.
Speaking with Game Talk Live in a podcast segment that’s set to go live soon, Smedley said that H1Z1 finds players as survivors of an apocalyptic event. The world is filled with zombies and he focused on the notion of ‘world.’ H1Z1 is going to be a huge open setting, a scale on which we have yet to experience a post-apocalyptic title.
When asked on Twitter when we’ll be able to see the game in action, Smedley said that a gameplay footage would be shown soon. Furthermore the game will be playable soon.
Continuing from that, Smedley said that the preview is “scary” and that in game players can expect to be able to “burn down trees, burn down stuff,” which is “gonna be a lot of fun.”
The game is going to have a diverse day-night cycle, where the nights are going to be so dark that players will need to have a torch. Similar to DayZ, H1Z1 will see to players being ganked by other players or zombies.
“The idea is that these players [are] building these forts and all of the sudden these other guys coming in lighting it on fire and waiting till they come out of the fortress … is awesome,” is what he said.
Furthermore the game will feature vehicles, as well as aircrafts. “Our goal is to build out this entire massive massive world that is this apocalypse of the United States.”
SOE recently published a teaser site for the upcoming game, which featured only eerie background music, a full moon and foggy night landscape.
