Major Nelson aka Larry Hryb has confirmed that Hitman: Absolution will be making its way to Xbox Live as a free title under Games of Gold for April. The offer starts on April 1 and will go on until April 16.
He has further confirmed that the other game to go up for free in April will be Deadlight.
The Xbox Live Games with Gold is here to stay as Microsoft has already announced that it will be coming to Xbox One before this year is through.
However, the program has been criticized by some of the community members for not being as lucrative as PlayStation Plus’ offerings. This might be changing this month: we have picked up word that Hitman: Absolution will be making its way to your Xbox 360s for free.
Before you jump with joy on the news, let us clarify that this is not something confirmed by the officials. Instead, it was Xbox Community Manager Raj Patel who apparently leaked the news through a tweet. He could have been feeling over excited.
The tweet in question claimed that on April 1 all the Xbox Live Gold members will get Hitman: Absolution for Xbox 360 as a part of the Games with Gold program. He has since deleted the tweet for reasons unknown.
Now the date April 1 would make you wonder, like me, if this had something to do with the good old April Fool’s Day. I hope it has not.
Moreover, if this is actually happening, it is still one half of the games that are supposed to go live in April according to the convention. We have no rumor as to what other game will be put up for free through Xbox Live Games with Gold in April.
Hitman: Absolution was developed by IO Interactive and released to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in January 2013. Do you think having this game in the Xbox Live Games with Gold list for April would help balance the quality expected by the Gold Members?
