Ubisoft plans to release a new Assassin’s Creed game every year; however, the industry skeptics usually criticize the idea arguing that it is an act of greed instead of facilitation for the demand.
Vice President of Creative Lionel Raynaud was talking to Edge when he explained their point of view in continuing to make more Assassin’s Creed games on a frequent basis. He believes that the games will keep coming as long as people keep asking for it:
We are able to offer people a new Assassin’s Creed every year because they want Assassin’s Creed every year. As long as this is true we would be very stupid to not satisfy this need, but it puts a lot of pressure on us to create something that will never disappoint.
Although he did say that they would need to retain the core values of the series no matter how frequently a new Assassin’s Creed game is released. He said that they would have to ensure an improved experience in every game in the series while keeping an understanding of what it is to be an assassin.
Moreover, he discussed how they wished to continue supporting the last generation of consoles even with the series titles that will come in the future. He confirmed that there will be titles for Xbox 360 and PS3 this year as well as the years to come.
Do you think Ubisoft will be able to maintain the aura of the game as well as the excitement even if a new Assassin’s Creed game is released each year regularly?
