Square Enix has registered a trademark for a “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided,” which according to its description is a trademark filed under video game software, printed material like books and online services.
We’re pretty much looking at the new Deus Ex game here, the one of whom we had been hearing rumors for the past couple of months. Then again less we forget, Square Enix also had trademarked Deus Ex: Human Defiance, which later turned out to be a film title and then Deus Ex: The Fall, which later turned out to be a mobile game. That said, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided seems promising and with E3 2014 just months away, we could be seeing Square Enix doing a full reveal on stage in June.
Last year in October, Square Enix announced that work on a next-gen Deus Ex installment had been started. The image above was accompanying the announcement made by David Anfossi, Head of Eidos Montreal, who said the following:
“I want to leave you with a piece of concept art from our next-gen Deus Ex game that shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a “ghetto-city’ voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex.”
The new title would be expanding the franchise in what they called Deus Ex: Universe. Whether or not Mankind Divided is going to be continuing from where Human Revolution left off remains to be seen. Let’s hope Square Enix does an official announcement in the coming days.
Square Enix is also said to be readying an E3 2014 announcement for Tomb Raider 2. This year’s expo is going to be really exciting to watch.
