Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD, the game with two subtitles and now and extra end, has arrived on Steam. It’s currently available for €11.99.
Originally, publisher Konami released this dark adventure game exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in March of 2013. It’s part of the Lords of Shadow trilogy from developer MercurySteam that puts a new spin on the classic series.
For Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD, however, game design reverts to a more classic 2D side-scroller, only adjusted in a 2.5D angle for a modern take. Other than that, it still retains the open-ended platform sections that have made the franchise synonymous with going back and forth through environments in games.
In Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD, the story follows Trevor Belmont, knight of the Brotherhood of Light. As the name suggests, Trevor is part of the Belmont legacy within the Castlevania lore.
Trevor’s quest is to avenge the death of a relative, who died at the hands of another relative, which also happens to be Dracula. Far be it for us to spoil the story, but a pretty revealing recap of this is offered in the beginning of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.
That leaves Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD to be something more geared towards true fans, who really want to experience all of it firsthand. Then again, the final part of the trilogy isn’t really as captivating, so that’s an extra reason to pick this one up instead.
Moreover, completing the game unlocks Boss Rush mode, which throws in all the boss fights from the game back to back. You’ll at least be able to do so in remade visuals.
