Ubisoft is bringing two Assassin’s Creed titles this year. Unity has already been reported to be set during the French Revolution and will be out this fall for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. We however, know next to nothing about the second title called Comet. We do know that it’s being targeted for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with no confirmation on a PC version; but that’s it.
Ubisoft might be waiting for E3 to do a full reveal but perhaps beating them to it is a French website called GameBlog, which yesterday posted a number of details surrounding Comet and its story.
According to the site, Assassin’s Creed: Comet is set in 1758 and will star a sailor named Shay who betrays the captain of his ship, and ends up being a member of the Templars – probably in his search for riches. It seems very similar to what we have already experienced in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
Exact details of the plot are unknown but GameBlog claims that Comet will see to the return of many Assassin’s Creed characters, including Haytham Kenway and Adewalé. Much like Black Flag, players will be able to do a great deal of sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. Ubisoft though has yet to confirm any of these details.
The last installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Black Flag, was released for both last and current-gen consoles. It’s surprising to know that Ubisoft plans to split their consumer base between two titles this year. Ultimately most of them will have to choose between the two, or else have both machines.
