Advance Wars which is also known as Game Boy Wars Advance was developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 2001.
The game features both the single-player and multiplayer modes. It was developed for Japanese market only but then was made available for the western market with the tutorial included to help understand the turn-based combat of the game.
In Advance Wars, your main task is to defeat the army which can be done by either eliminating everyone on the map or by taking over the enemy’s headquarters.
Advance Wars was an incredible success in both the Western markets and in Japan. It still continues to sell to this day. Inclusion of games like Advance Wars to Wii U virtual console service will really help them get their standing back in the market.
There is also confirmation that other classics like Yoishi’s Island and Metroid Fusion would also make their way to the Wii U virtual console.
