Good news folks, Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is working its way towards Microsoft’s latest generation console. Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that they are developing the Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition for Xbox One though they are unable to provide a release announcement just yet.
As reported by Videogamer, the game’s lead producer Alex Mayberry confirmed to them that they are developing the Xbox One version and the PS4 version together even though the game has not officially been announced for the former:
I don’t know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can’t really comment on what that contract looks like. The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run.
We have that pipeline worked out, We’ve already done it with the 360 and PS3, so that team knows how to develop at the same time for both of those platforms. That’s just what we do. And then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out.
Looking at how they would not formally announce the Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition Xbox One version yet, it reminds me of what the case had been for Diablo 3 itself. The game was announced only for PS3 first but the Xbox 360 version was later confirmed.
For those of you who are interested (I am guessing all) the Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition Xbox One version and PS4 version will bring both the original Diablo 3 and the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion to the said consoles.
