Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Patch 2.2 Discussed By Naoki Yoshida
Today, Square Enix aired 13th Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Letter featuring Naoki Yoshida, Toshio Murouchi, and Kazutoyo Marhiro, which primarily focused on Update v.2.2 (through the Mailstorm) which is expected to go live on March, 22, 2014.
The update will include a novel feature called Glamours Feature, which will enable players to alter the appearance of an equipment by giving it a look of another equipment. However, note that class-specific items will not be altered by other classes’ items. It can also be done with special items and weapons.
In case, you decide to alter appearance of an equipment comprising of Head and Body item with an equipment which only have Body; the Head item will not be displayed.
The next feature discussed is called Retainer Venture, which enables players to use Retainers to accomplish various tasks.
The Retainers can level up and will acquire certain items (which can be equipped by you). In order to send a Retainer on a Venture, you will need Chips, which can be earned in a number of ways like side-quests.
Once a Retainer has left, you will be provided with a time limit of the Venture. At any given time, you will be able to call back the Retainer at the cost of your Chips spent.
In order to do farming, you will need a farming plot (of different sizes) and start farming without worrying about watering your fields everyday.
The items that you will reap from these fields depend upon the types of seeds. You can also mix up two types of seeds to get rare items, which usually take 3-5 days to grow.
Items acquired from the New Coil of Bahamuth and Tomstones will have different item levels, and you need to try them to know how exactly they work.
The upcoming update also promises features like using Fantasia Potions to change a character’s look, Personal Housing, and the Echo Buffs explained using slides. In addition to this,
The Binding Coil of Bahamuth will find its place in the Content Finder with weekly limited completely removed.
Changes to matchmaking have also been made and low ranked players will not be put against high ranked players. The lack of Tanks is over-compensated by increased daily bonuses for Dungeons along with two special mounts (Bear and White Lion) for Tanks.
Including a library-like feature is also being considered which will be implemented in the form of collectibles with a separate lore for Zodiac Weapons. Furthermore, the NPCs will pay heed to your accomplishments and will respond in accordance to that.
And lastly, an Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled to kick off on April 9th with the game launching on Playstation 4 on April 14th.
