Super Smash Bros 4 for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U is being developed by Masahiro Sakurai; the guy is known for the creation of the Super Smash Bros series and for being a gaming industry veteran. He has recently been indulged in the upcoming game as well as his liking for the PlayStation 4.
Masahiro Sakurai writes weekly on The Famitsu magazine.
What he wrote this time was surely a surprise; he praised Sony’s PlayStation 4 starting from the shape to the comfort and lastly the machine’s power.
Being a Nintendo developer it was a bit of a surprise, but he says that he gives more importance to the future of games, whether it is Nintendo, Sony or any foreign company.
First off, the console looks cool. As hardware evolves, people tend to make things more rounded or add more details, but [the PS4] is properly angular. This simplicity is really nice.
What I found most appealing was the machine’s power. Looking over the various software, the screens are detailed and smooth. Load times are short and there are no slowdowns. Such performance right out the gate — this will help a lot of developers.
He then delved into a more detailed analysis of why PlayStation 4 deserves the praise saying that usually the comfort is overlooked though it is hard to achieve. His point since PS4 really takes that into account. He gave the example of leading time saying that if it isn’t there people wouldn’t notice, but once it is there, it is an issue.
In parallel news, he shared an image of Super Smash Bros 4 through his Miiverse account.
The image shows another look at the newly revealed level, Tortimer Island. Saying, “looks like someone is enjoying the bachelor life in this pad,” he teased the fact that there could be fights inside the houses too.
