It’s possible that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain may actually launch in early 2015, according to a registration website’s tagline. On reddit, a user spotted that the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes incentives for the main release would appear during that time.
While the downloadable content (DLC) is activated through Ground Zeroes, it is actually material that is used in The Phantom Pain, which is the basis for the speculated date. With the DLC you’ll unlock additional Mother Base features.
Moreover, Ground Zeroes progress can be carried over to the full Metal Gear release. Rescued VIP’s and prisoners of war rescued in the precursor will appear in The Phantom Pain’s Mother Base.
Phantom Pain DLC for Ground Zeroes is only available in the first run of the pre-game’s release. It’s not certain if it will become available separately, once the 2015 iteration is out.
Moreover, Playstation 3 preorders for Grounds Zeroes came with a free copy of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD. As Ground Zeroes is stated to be a direct sequel to Peace Walker, this may come in handy to understand the story.
Prior to this news, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was floating more around the backend of 2015. A tweet from a Konami employee slated the game in either FY3/2015 or FY3/2016, meaning either the end of 2014 or 2015, with the latter being more likely.
For the first time in the series, The Phantom Pain takes gameplay to a much more open-ended format. Additionally, the main release is said to be a lot longer than Ground Zeroes, which is currently under scrutiny for its length.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
