The protagonist of Final Fnatasy XIII series has been voted the character of the year 2013 at the Dengeki PlayStation Awards.
The news was shared through a tweet where a picture shows Motomu Toriyama and Yuji Abe holding the award and in the same tweet, developers thanked the community for voting Lightning Best Character of the Year 2013.
Lightning whose real name is Claire Farror or Éclair Farron served a huge role in the trilogy of Final Fantasy XIII. The first game revolves around her journey to save her sister Serah.
In the second game, she mainly just narrated the story with a few playable moments and in the third game, she makes a comeback as the playable character where she is picked as a savior by the God Bhunivelze who tasks her to save the people’s souls before the world’s end.
Lightning is the second female character who has served as a protagonist in the mainstream Final Fantasy franchise, first character was Terra Branford in the Final Fantasy VI.
Third game in the trilogy, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was released just a month back on February 11th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
