NPD February Report Shows Xbox One Catching up to PlayStation 4
Microsoft’s next-gen console is finally coming around, NPD February report states that Xbox One almost caught up with the number of units sold by Sony’s PlayStation 4. In fact if you compare the revenues for both the consoles in the month of February, you will see that the Xbox One actually led the race.
Here’s what the official word from NPD was on the matter of the sales achieved by Xbox One and PlayStation 4:
PS4 led hardware sales in February 2014, but by a narrow margin with Xbox One selling over 90% of what the PS4 sold in terms of unit sales. However, with Xbox One’s higher price point it led hardware sales on a dollar basis.
Also, Microsoft has stated that they sold 258,000 units of their console so we can assume that PlayStation 4 figures would be fewer than 300,000 too. They also maintained that the figure of Xbox Ones sold this month was 61 percent greater than the number of Xbox 360s that they sold.
Apart from the successful month for both Sony and Microsoft, NPD’s February report also announced the departure of Tomb Raider Reboot from the top ten games. Here’s a rundown on the top 10 games for the month of February:
- Call Of Duty: Ghosts – Activision Blizzard
- The LEGO Movie Videogame – Warner Bros. Interactive
- NBA 2K14 – Take 2 Interactive
- Thief – Square Enix
- Grand Theft Auto V – Take 2 Interactive
- Battlefield 4 – EA
