The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was supposed to release later this year but an open letter posted by CD Projekt Red earlier this week revealed that they have pushed the title back to early 2015 instead. The developer stated that the game will not be rushed and the delay will enable them to achieve a quality that “gamers expect from us.”
Less we forget, CD Projekt Red is also working on a sci-fi RPG called Cyberpunk 2077, details of which are next to none. However, the delay of the last Witcher installment will not in any way hamper the development of other projects.
Speaking to GameSpot, CEO Marcin Iwinski said that “Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected.”
No doubt the studio has a larger team working on the Witcher title right now, compared to that of Cyberpunk 2077. Once the title is released, members of the team will jump to work on the sci-fi RPG.
In its open letter CD Projekt Red claimed that they are putting all of their experience gained from developing RPG titles into Wild Hunt and that fans will not be disappointed. Iwinski stated the same fact again, only highlighting that they will be applied to Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
“We are working hard to deliver an outstanding RPG…all the learnings on The Witcher 3 are being applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 development.”
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release for the PS4, Xbox One and PC in February 2015.
