Amazon to Plunge Into Computer Games Development
Going neck and neck against large computer games manufacturers, Amazon is planning on jumping into video games development.
The company is currently hiring veterans from gaming industry after successfully plunging into mobile gaming with their debut title called Air Patriots developed & published by Amazon Game Studios.
Being a rapidly progressing gaming platform, analysts have predicted that the gaming industry will be worth $83 Billion by 2016; half of which will be generated from mobile games.
In addition to this, the company has also bought California-based video game studio, Double Helix Games, which has games like Silent Hill: Home Coming & Killer Instinct under its belt.
And then we’ve been hearing about rumors of Amazon Talking with Microsoft to purchase Xbox. Although it would be interesting to see how competitors like Sony & Nintendo will react to this, it seems highly unlikely to happen.
It should not come as a surprise if the company encourages users to buy their console and make digital purchases through the device via Amazon Store. The company has been using the same strategy with various domains like eBooks (Kindle) and Television Programs (Amazon Instant Video), lately; which has generated a lot of revenues.
Given that the veterans like Nintendo are reporting financial losses, do you think it’s a good time for Amazon to take such a venture? Let us know!
