The addictive tower defense sequel Defense Grid 2 has been confirmed for a release on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will release later this year alongside the already announced PC version.
Developer Hidden Path Entertainment originally failed in acquiring $1 million funds through a Kickstarter campaign for an expansion to Defense Grid: The Awakening. Shortly after the closure of the crowd funding program, investor Steven Dengler stepped up to help out in funds. Dengler has previously also helped fund The Banner Saga, Broken Age, Project Eternity, Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera. Thanks to the man, development for a sequel was not effected.
“505 Games has partnered with us at Hidden Path and is providing a great opportunity for next-generation console players to experience our vision of the definitive tower defense experience,” said Hidden Path founder Jeff Pobst. “We’re so excited to work on a game we love and bring it to additional platforms with such a like-minded publishing partner.”
