Square Enix has confirmed today that its upcoming supernatural detective thriller Murdered: Soul Suspect will release across platforms in North America on June 3, 2013. According to the publisher the game will then release in Europe and PAL territories three days later on June 6.
Murdered: Soul Suspect is being developed by Airtight Games and will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The developer has confirmed that the game will run in native 1080p for both the new consoles, which will be a sigh of relief for Xbox One owners.
Murdered: Soul Suspect puts players in the shoes of Ronan O’Connor, a detective who at the start of the game is killed by an unknown assailant while in pursuit of him. However his soul refuses to pass over and is now stuck between their realm and ours. From here on Ronan sets out to discover the true identity of his murderer. Being set in Salem Massachusetts, the location of the Salem witch trials in 1692, players will be able to interrogate the ghosts of Salem to learn more about his killer.
Square Enix has also asked us to divert our attention to a mysterious website markofsalem.com which asks us to “open our eyes” and solve a puzzle.
Murdered: Soul Suspect is one of those games which don’t necessarily have to look good in order to succeed. How the story unravels in this detective title is going to be important. So far it’s looking like a fine addition to any game’s library. June suddenly is looking too far.
