Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Weapons Mastery

Shadow Whip is your primary weapon and you will be using this for most of the time. Void Sword is used to steal HP from enemies and freezing different objects. And Chaos Claws are used to break enemy defenses and causing an explosion.

While Shadow Whip can be used for unlimited duration of time, Void Sword and Chaos Claws can be used for a specific duration.

What is Weapon Mastery?

To put in simple words, the overall power of a weapon is determined by its Mastery. The Mastery of a particular weapon, say, Shadow Whip will be independent of other weapon’s Mastery.

Weapon Mastery can be divided into two types:

  • Weapon Mastery
  • Individual Skill Mastery

Weapon Mastery lets you increase the overall Mastery of a particular weapon. When Weapon Mastery increases, all skills related to that particular weapon get buffed up.

In contrast to this, Individual Skill Mastery increases the Mastery of an individual skill. It only buffs up that particular skill. However, you need to note that you must increase Individual Skill Mastery in order to achieve Weapon Mastery.

How to Increase Skill Mastery?

Using a skill repeatedly is how you will increase a Skill Mastery. For instance, you want to increase the Skill Mastery for Counterstrike Sweep (Shadow Whip), all you need to do is to execute it over and over again until you reach it.

There is no hard and fast rule as to how this thing works or how much time it takes but, you will eventually get it.

Other than this, you can also keep track of Individual Skill Mastery and Weapon Mastery from the Options which will display the increase in attributes below your Health Bar.

How to Increase Weapon Mastery?

When you have successfully attained an Individual Skill Mastery, you will be able to transfer it to Weapon Mastery. During the first time, you will add about 25% to the Weapon Mastery by transferring from Individual Skill Mastery.

And in order to reach complete Weapon Mastery, you will have to transfer about 5-6 Individual Skill Masteries.

Another thing you need to note is that once you have gained Mastery for an Individual Skill, that particular skill won’t be able to gain anymore Mastery Points; no matter how much you use it.

This basically encourages you to use different types of skills during the battle.

I would personally advise you to use different skills on weaker enemies and Mastered Skills on tougher and during boss fights. Once you have completely mastered a weapon, you will unlock the following Achievements/Trophies:

  • The Path of the Whip
  • The Path of the Sword
  • The Path of the Claws
  • The Path of the Warrior

Below you will find different skills related to each Weapon in the game:
