Rocksteady’s new game has been revealed and it’s Batman: Arkham Knight, the next installment in the Arkham franchise.
The game is going to be releasing later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC; hence shifting the franchise finally to next-gen hardware. Rocksteady has yet to disappoint us with a Batman title and the studio alienating the older hardware only means that they are bent on making this one the best of the lot.
According to an earlier listing on retailer GAME’s website, Batman: Arkham Knight is the “explosive finale” to the series and sees the return of the caped crusader to face “the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect.”
The Scarecrow is seemingly the main villain this time around, who will be accompanied by an “impressive roster of super villains” that includes the Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn.
Details for the title are limited at this time but are expected to arrive once the next edition of Game Informer’s magazine is released, which is graced by Arkham Knight. We do know from the listing that Rocksteady has adhered to fans’ requests and is bringing a “uniquely designed version of the Batmobile” that will be drivable for the first time in the franchise.
Whether that means we’re getting a sort of open-world spacing where we can drive around, or if it is restricted to certain mission, remains to be seen.
Pre-ordering Batman: Arkham Knight will net players four exclusive Challenge Maps where they can play as Harley Quinn and use her unique weapons and abilities.
