Purchases of the Gran Turismo 5’s DLCs packs for the PlayStation 3 will be disabled from April 30, according to Sony.
Owners of the DLC packs will be able to continue using them, but Sony warns that items from the ‘Paint Pack’ and ‘Racing Gear Pack’ will be permanently removed if players delete their saved data.
In order to make most of this available time, the official Gran Turismo blog recommends players install any purchased items from the GT5 homescreen. DLCs can then later be installed even after the April 30th deadline from the download list in the PlayStation Store.
This is one of several incremental moves to shut down services for older games on the PlayStation 3. In late January, MAG, SOCOM Special Forces, SOCOM Confrontation online servers were shut down, and Sony also announced that it would be shutting down online servers for Gran Turismo 5 on May 20.
Resistance servers (Fall of Man, 2 & 3) will also shut down on March 28.
Players will still be able to play the offline modes of the above mentioned games, except for the online-exclusive MAG and SOCOM Confrontation.
