Halo 5 To Release This Year According to OXM
The Official Xbox Magazine website was talking about how Titanfall came into being at Respawn when they posted the cover of Official Xbox Magazine March edition. Guess what did we find on it; news that Halo 5 will be released in 2014!
The front cover of the magazine (see below) is mostly dedicated to Titanfall, with a pilot rodeo-ing a Titan; however, under that is another bucket to the pool of speculation around the Halo 5 release. It reads:
“Halo 5: It’s coming this year!”
And, it doesn’t stop at that, the next line teases “first glimpse of a new world inside.” This means many of us are buying the Xbox Official Magazine March edition for sure!
It is worth noting that only recently voice actor for Master Chief, Steve Downes had said that we should not expect Halo 5 until 2015 but that Halo 2 Anniversary Edition will come out this year.
Sometime later, Microsoft and Downes had retracted from what he had said. The new statement of Downes claimed that he was not confirming the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition and that his word on Halo 5 was just what he read online.
Previously, we have been told by Phil Spencer, the Corporate Vice President Microsoft Game Studios, that by E3 2014, fans would be clear about the next Halo game. So this means there surely is something to look forward to.
Not to forget the fact that Microsoft has been teasing all along that our next Halo journey will begin in 2014. The recent news got me wondering whether it could simply be the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition or could they really mean what their statements have implied i.e. Halo 5 release in 2014.
Coming back to the blurb that has appeared on the Official Xbox Magazine; it certainly adds new grains of speculation. If Microsoft’s licensed magazine is being as straight forward about the release of the next Halo in 2014, there must be some degree of truth in it.
While all this is still a rumor, the release of Halo 5 in 2014 will greatly benefit Xbox One’s cause in terms of yearly sales but Microsoft would already know that, wouldn’t they?
