Did Respawn Really Bribe Media for Good Impressions on Titanfall?

Some folks in Gaming Industry utterly disappoint me at times. Take the success of Titanfall for instance!

This multiplayer-only Sci-Fi FPS is a Microsoft console-exclusive title developed by a team of veteran developers who previously worked on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer.

Now like many others, I have played the beta and thoroughly enjoyed it. But it is impossible to make everyone happy.

Following the success of Titanfall Beta, many people started accusing Respawn Entertainment of greasing reviewers’ palms to give the game a high score.

The issue was being discussed on NeoGAF where Respawn Entertainment’s Drew McCoy shared his thoughts on the matter and he was absolutely disappointed:

Anyone who thinks we weren’t living in the shadow of decade + old established franchises at our reveal at E3 is as crazy as their conspiracy theories of anyone getting paid off.

He further stated that not every game is meant for everyone but such remarks are downright insanity and insulting as well.

We’ve had to fight tooth and nail to have a game that anyone would even know existed, let alone be excited for and want to create coverage of. I get it that it’s not for everyone, but to say we’re paying anyone off is downright insanity; not to mention the height of insulting.

I absolutely agree with McCoy, they have created a game which provides a new and unique experience to millions of people out there. If one cannot show gratitude, at least have some respect for someone’s hard work.

Alfred quite rightly said that some people want to watch the world burn.

Titans are incoming on 11 March, 2014 for Xbox One and PC; as for the Xbox 360, a fortnight later.
