Banished Errors, Crashes, Save Files, Blackscreen and Fixes

Although Banished is yet another city-building simulator but it adds a slight variation in its concept which ofcourse, is based on a group of people that have been banished.

Your job will be to build a self sustaining town without any external assistance.

The game recently got released on steam and the fans of city building genre are loving it – well, mostly are. The game is hardly 250 MB in size but that doesn’t mean it can’t have its fair share of problems.

Luckily though, the developer of the game is monitoring the issues (bugs/crashes/errors) closely so we are hoping that there will be a couple of patches down the road.

In the meanwhile, if you are experiencing any issues related to banished, you can browse through the following troubleshooting guide to find possible fixes and workarounds.

#1 Banished GPU Overheating Issue
If you are an Nvidia user, I will recommend that you install the recent driver update released by the manufacturer.

If that doesn’t work, try lowering down the graphics to minimum and observe the temperature of your GPU.

The game isn’t very resource hungry so if your GPU is good enough, it should not exceed the 70-75 degrees mark. Also, keep checking the official forums for any updates or patches.

#2 Banished Save Files not Available on Steam
The game for the time being does not support Steam Cloud functionality and save the progress locally so it’s not a bug or any error. Will the option be made available in the future?

That’s an interesting question but I don’t have an answer for that yet.

#3 Banished Missing Executable File
If you are using Steam, try verifying the integrity of the game files. This should download the “.exe” file and the problem will be resolved.

#4 Banished Fatal Error Fix
Fatal errors can get really annoying but in case of Banished, I have a workaround for you that may solve your problem. When the error pops up, go to your Steam Library and delete the DX11 34 bit and 64 bit files.

If that doesn’t work, try running the game using 34-bit “.exe”. Still no luck? Also try the workaround mentioned in #7.

#5 Banished Crashes at Random
If you are experiencing crashes on random, as a workaround, try running the game in the windowed mode. It’s worth of a shot until the issue gets resolved permanently.

You also need to make sure that you aren’t running any third party capture tools in the background like “DXTory” is presenting some problems.

#6 Banished ‘The Game Does Not Launch
There are a few things you can try to make it work:

  • Try verifying the integrity of your game files.
  • Try running the game as admin without Steam.
  • Make sure that you have latest drivers for your GPU and you have directx installed properly.
  • Also, if you have any firewall/antivirus or any other security tool enabled, either disable them or add exception for the game.

#7 Banished Performance Issues on Laptops
Many laptops these days come with two GPUs and we have to choose the dedicated memory instead of the integrated memory sometimes to get better performance.

To make sure that you are running the game with proper memory, right click on the “.exe” file and choose “Run with Graphics Processor”.

#8 Banished Crashes on Startup
First, make sure that the game is being run by your dedicated graphics memory and not the integrated memory. You can choose your graphics memory before running the application by right clicking on it (choose high performance processor).

#9 Banished Black Screen Fix
The most probable reasons for black screen are firewall or the outdated drivers. First, update your gfx drivers and then make sure that your firewall/security tool is not blocking game’s “.exe” files.

#10 Banished Application Load Error 3:0000065432
If you are getting this error on running the game through 64-bit “.exe”, try using 32-bit file to make this error go away. It’s a know issue and the developer is working on a permanent fix.

If you come across any other issues, comment and we will help you out!
