Deep Silver has confirmed today that its upcoming co-op action role-playing game Sacred 3 will release this summer on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The announcement was accompanied by a CGI reveal trailer that shoes a team of heroes working together in fervor to ambush a convoy, kill a big troll and in the end rescue its prisoner.
Sacred 3 places a lot of focus on co-operative gameplay with a number of character classes to choose from. Remy van Leeuwen, brand manager at Deep Silver, said that seamless integration between the classes was the driving force behind the game’s development.
“The paramount development goal for Sacred 3 has been to create a seamless online and offline co-op experience,” van Leeuwen said in a release. “By creating a game built around the central concept of co-op gameplay, we’re expanding the series to new audiences without compromising the rich lore and fantasy of the Sacred universe.”
After acquiring the license from former developer Ascaron Entertainment, Deep Silver had stated that it was eying a release date in early 2012. The game though was then delayed due to development issues and is now being released this year.
