After a rocky life cycle, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has found a spot on Steam’s storefront. It’s available for PC users at a price of €12.49, until February 25, 2014.
After the current discount, set at 50%, the price will revert to its normal tag of €24.99. A special edition for the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game is available with the same discount for €19.99.
With the special edition, you’ll be able to customize some of your content with trinkets from the franchise. A Helm of Light gives you horns from the original Final Fantasy, for instance.
Other items include a baby Behemoth minion that follows you around the universe of Eorzea and Behemoth Barding that gives you the same flair for your Chocobo ride. Additionally, a Coeurl Mount will let you get places on a fierce beast.
It should be noted that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn requires a monthly subscription, to play the game beyond its first month. In addition, a Square Enix Account needs to be created.
With the MMO, you’ll be able to play with others across platforms. The roleplaying game exists, currently, for both PC and Playstation 3.
Soon, a Playstation 4 version of the roleplaying game (RPG) will make its way to the console as well. A Beta event on PS4 will begin this month.
Originally, Final Fantasy XIV didn’t fare too well with fans. In its original state, it was poorly received and dwindled from there on, which urged the revamped iteration of A Realm Reborn.
Prior to that, Final Fantasy XI already tested the MMO model.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn currently stands at a Metacritic score of 83.
