Following the listing of Fallout: Shadows of Boston on IMDB, there have been several rumors going on as to whether it’s a movie, a new game in the making, or just another hoax.
Even if we consider it to be Fallout 4 in the making, there is complete lack of official information or announcement. The fake Alternate Reality Games and Trademarks are creating quite a hype among the fans but in a small interview conducted by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Besthesda Game Director Todd Howard just laughed it away:
The ARG was very, very well done,” he chuckled. “It’s a testament to our fans. And they’re doing that stuff and making mods. The stuff they do, we often look at and go, ‘Well, why don’t we just do that? That’s really great.’
What’s done is done! For all we want is an official announcement of the game but, it looks like we are out of luck as there is no imminent announcement in future:
We don’t [have a timeframe for our next game announcement],” he said, “but I think it’s going to be a while. We’ve gotten fairly used to all the questions and curiosity over the years. Everyone wants information. Right now, we’re just trying to figure out which of our ideas are going to stick and finding an appropriate time to talk about it.
Now that we have embarked upon next generation of consoles and people have started acclaiming PC, it is good to hear that PC gamers will be on front-line:
PC is resurgent. Skyrim did better than we’ve ever done on PC by a large, large number. And that’s where the mods are. That feeds the game for a long time.
He further stated that next-gen of consoles has a similar architect to that of a PC and that opens up several new horizons for the development team.
And it’s exciting that the new consoles are very PC-like. That opens up avenues for us going forward to do things that we have wanted to do in the past.
So yeah! Keep on waiting for ‘A While’ while hoping for an announcement.
