In an interview carried out by US Playstation Blog, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Marketing Vice President John Koller provided a ton of information regarding Playstation 4’s global reception and their plans related to console’s close at hand Japanese launch.
Speaking about Playstation 4’s global reception, Koller said that in US, Playstation 4 managed to outsell Xbox One with a ratio of 2 to 1. He further added that Sony sold 4.2 million units in holiday season; making it the biggest console launch in history.
Regarding the PS4’s upcoming launch in Japan, Koller stated that they are continuously providing the supply chains with additional units and keeping up to the demands. In addition to this, the company has around 100 titles to launch in 2014.
Since we launched on November 15th, we’ve sold every PS4 available in the US. It’s clear that PS4 is seeing strong appeal all over the world, and we’ll continue doing our best to provide additional inventory in all of the 53 countries where PS4 is available.
Speaking about Playstation Plus, he said that the company has seen about 90% growth rate with Playstation 4 fans seemingly interested in trying out blockbuster titles that PS Plus is bringing in.
The only question he seemed to put off is when he was asked whether fans will see any improved features – in future updates – related to Playstation Headsets compatibility or not?!
Nothing to share for now, but I can say that we are listening carefully to feedback from our fans. But on the headset point, I do hope that PS4 gamers are enjoying the new Gold Headset.
