PlanetSide 2 is receiving two major updates in this month, with the first scheduled for next week and the second at the end of the month.
Next week’s update will go live on Wednesday, February 19 and feature an overhaul for the Amerish continent. The implemented lattice system will bring changes to base layouts and add six new outposts. The newly re-positioned bases will now utilize the landscape to limit entry points for vehicles. Thus giving infantry some safety zones. Creative director Matt Higby confirmed that Amerish is going to require a few extra updates later on for polishing purposes.
The second update will be released on February 26 and bring changes to the overall mission system of the game. Soldier objectives will be determined by squad leader actions, which will help point to what areas need to be captured or defended. To that end, squad leaders will also be able to create quick missions for their platoon, which will reward everyone with bonus XP upon completion.
The update will also add new options for new players. New soldier recruitment process will be now more simpler and new players will go through a quiz that will determine their best class and loadout.
A new death screen is also being introduced which will show players where their killers were on the minimap; giving them an opportunity to respawn and gun them down.
