We do know that the performance of Xbox One in the market was slightly marred by the presence of Sony’s PlayStation 4 but it is also true that Microsoft’s console has fared really well as compared to its predecessor.

Microsoft has revealed that Xbox One sold 2.29 times faster than Xbox 360 in the period from launch until now. Moreover, Xbox One games led January’s software sales above all competition.

Yusuf Mehdi, the Corporate Vice President of Marketing, Strategy and Business at Xbox gave a detailed account of the company’s performance based on the NPD Group data for the month of January.

According to the post, Xbox has sold the most games in January, totaling 2.27 million which is 47 percent of the total software market share. It also stated that on average 2.7 games were sold in the US for every console sold since launch.

Other aspects that Mehdi boasted about include the fact that over 740 million hours have been spent on Xbox one so far by games (this includes games, apps and TV), and that 685 million commands were given to Kinect including 20 million commands for “Xbox record that.”

He also revealed that over 1 million people have been using Skype on Xbox One which is one of the many top features that the console offers including TV, Upload, Internet Explorer, Game DVR, Netflix, YouTube, Xbox Video and Blu-Ray player.

Though many of the Xbox One games released to date have been successful, Microsoft is really counting on Titanfall which releases as a PC and Xbox exclusive on March 11.
