Square Enix Prioritizing Final Fantasy XV Over Kingdom Hearts 3
Final fantasy XV which was previously titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII is being developed for PS4 and Xbox One by Square Enix 1st Production Department.
Word on the release schedule of the game had been scarce, but thankfully, it is quite far into development now; the developer has assured.
Series producer Yoshinori Kitase was recently interviewed regarding the games development where he revealed that although there was no race for resources between Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFXV, the latter was still being given a very high priority.
We can’t give too much information, but certainly looking at Final Fantasy XV, it’s not as if it’s in competition with Kingdom Hearts 3 for resources or anything like that. It’s quite far into development now and it is being given a very high priority within the company itself, but that doesn’t mean Kingdom Hearts isn’t.
Originally, Final Fantasy XIII Versus was announced way back in 2006 and since then it had evolved into Final Fantasy XV. The storyline still retains a connection with the Final Fantasy XIII series though as it is based on the same Crystal legend: the Fabulla Nova Crystallis.
It is not the same universe and it is not the same game but the underpinning mythology keeps them linked together by being the “backdrop and the starting point.”
Final Fantasy XV has not been given a release date yet but based on these new comments, could the game come out in 2015?
