It has been a year and five months since the sequel to Platinum Games’ hack and slash videogame was announced. Yet, it was today’s Bayonetta 2 trailer that revealed its storyline along with other mouthwatering aspects of the game.
The new Bayonetta 2 trailer was showcased along with other in process games at a Nintendo Direct presentation that was held today. The third person action game will serve as a sequel to Bayonetta from 2009 and sets the story 500 years ago where a clash between two clans is on full bloom: the Umbra Witches and the Lumen Sages.
The Lumen Sages were thought to be extinct apart from Bayonetta who is half blood; the trailer revealed that at least one Sage is still left.
As always, the ideas depicted in the trailer are not easy to grasp but the game looks equally chaotic, visually enchanting and thoroughly confusing as its predecessor.
You will see Bayonetta is down in the purgatory and trying to find her way to hell. A mysterious kid also comes around for her assistance and it looks like players will also be controlling him sometime in the game.
One of the new abilities shown in the trailer is Umbran Climax using which she can build up her power and then strike with a single strong attack unleashing all the stored power. Check it out above.
Apart from the power-packed trailer, Platinum Games also revealed that Bayonetta 2 will be released to Japan in summer this year. There was no word of a North American release but Nintendo has assured that the game will hit sometime this year – fall 2014 maybe?
