Halo 5 Won’t Release on Xbox One This Year, Halo 2 Anniversary Will

Amidst all the talk about Halo for Xbox One we have seen a long list of news and predictions. We saw 343 Industries teasing concept art for the next game in the series and we also know that Halo 5 release date will be announced at this year’s E3.

Now there is word that Halo 5 will not get a 2014 release date. On the upside, we might get another Xbox One version of Halo: the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition.

This is not the first time we have heard news about the game being delayed; previous discussions suggested the same. The source of the speculation this time is slightly more reliable though.

Voice actor for Master Chief, Steve Downes was talking to GameZone when he said:

I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.

Last month, Microsoft’s PR head for Halo, Rob Semsey had assured that the next Halo will be released in 2014, could he be referring to the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition instead of Halo 5?

Coming back to Downes’ remarks, he didn’t clarify whether Halo 2 Anniversary Edition will be developed by 343 Industries or someone else, but there still is weight in his comments. This is so because Halo 2 was originally released in 2004, and this year does mark the first decade anniversary for the game.

Moreover, Halo 2 was released in the month of November, and it could be that the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition will come out in November. In the end, all this is just based on speculations as no official statement has been given in this regard.

Would you settle for the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition instead of the anticipated Halo 5? Let us know in your comments.
