The Last of Us Snatches 10 BAFTA Nominees, GTA 5 and Tearaway Follow
When Grand Theft Auto 5 released last year most of us had though that it would be the biggest game of the year. It was, in many references; but when it comes to the BAFTA Game Awards, it is The Last of Us that has taken the lead.
Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed action-adventure survival horror video game has managed to pull off a total of 10 BAFTA nominees, more than any other game on the list. When we talk about the list, don’t think it is just a couple of games, a total of 43 games across 17 categories were selected.
The Last of Us was followed closely by GTA 5 with nine nominees while Media Molecule’s Tearaway rounded up the top three with eight nominees. Down the list are: Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, BioShock Infinite, Super Mario 3D World, The Stanley Parable and Papers, Please with four nominations each.
There are other nominees too, these include BADLAND, Beyond: Two Souls, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, DEVICE 6, Tomb Raider, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Battlefield 4, Forza Motorsport 5, Gone Home, Gunpoint, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and The Room 2.
Lastly, three more games namely Project Heera: Diamond Heist, Size DOES Matter and The Unknown were nominated for the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award, which comes in association with Dare to be Digital.
Comedian and Gamer Dara O’Briain will be hosting the awards for the sixth consecutive year. In case you were planning to sit through the actual award ceremony, the BAFTA Game Awards are scheduled for Wednesday, March 12 at Tobacco Dock of London. Don’t go without a ticket though.
